About JawAtlas
Most dental students learn radiology from flat slides, but the scans they will read in practice are three dimensional. JawAtlas exists to close that gap with a small, free app on the device students already carry.
Why it exists
Desktop CBCT software is workstation-bound, licensed per seat and built for clinicians rather than learners. JawAtlas takes the opposite approach: a handful of things done to a professional standard, instead of everything at once. Real radiological conventions, a panoramic you trace yourself, calibrated measurements, and an augmented reality mode that puts the jaw life-size on the table.
Who makes it
JawAtlas is designed and written by Silvester Cekodhima. The app is built in Swift with Metal and ARKit, with no third-party dependencies and no networking code, and it ships for free on the App Store with no in-app purchases.
What it will never be
A medical device. JawAtlas is an education and training aid and makes no diagnostic or treatment claims. There are no implant libraries, no nerve-distance metrics and no density classification, and that is a design decision rather than a roadmap gap.
The demo scan
The bundled case comes from an openly licensed dataset by Feng, Li, Gu, Wang and Yu on Science Data Bank, used under CC BY 4.0. Read about the demo scan.
